The chain of furniture stores and home furnishings IKEA (Sweden) confirms plans to enter the Ukrainian market.

December 20, 2017 (Ukrainian News Agency) "Currently, IKEA is looking for the most suitable business model that would allow the company to implement plans in Kyiv within the next one or two years. The decision on further steps will be taken based on the results of market research and preferences of Ukrainian consumers," the statement reads. Previously, the company's intention to enter the Ukrainian market was reported by the company that manages the Mandarin Plaza shopping and entertainment center in Kyiv. Besides, Roman Matis, the head of the investment policy department of Lviv regional state administration, said that IKEA is considering the possibility of opening production in Ukraine.

As Ukrainian News Agency earlier reported, IKEA was founded in 1943 in Sweden by Ingvar Kamprad. The first shopping center of the company was opened in 1958. The structure of IKEA includes the Swedwood production group, which produces wooden furniture and components and has 35 plants in 9 countries. In Ukraine, an online store of the company operates, the goods are shipped from Poland.
