Would you like to look at the fortress of Poltava of early 18th century through the eyes of Charles XII of Sweden?

November 20, 2017 The opening ceremony for the artist Viktor Babenko's personal exhibition has taken place in Poltava art gallery a few days ago. Viktor is a talented artist, teacher and historian. He works at Poltava National Pedagogical University and explores the history of culture, religion, culturology, history of Poltava region.
That is why many of his paintings shown at the exhibition were inspired by old myths, legends, chronicles etc. You may browse many of his paintings at his personal page:

I would like to draw your attention to the one of Viktor Babenko’s works that involved the big interest of visitors of an exhibition.
This painting was created by the master after studying the history of the Poltava fortress. Some information about the fortress, its fortifications and bastions I found in the diary written by Swedish fenrik Robert Petre and passed on to the artist.
I sincere believe that in the future this painting by Viktor Babenko will enrich the collection of the museum of the Battle of Poltava.
