November 22, 2017 (Polskie Radio) Polish leadership is going to deploy first Patriot
missile systems from the U.S. within next two years on the territory of the
country. Polskie Radio reported that citing Polish Defense Minister Antoni
Macierewicz. According to the Minister, this is the earliest practicable date
which results from negotiations of Poland with Raytheon company on equipment
supplies. The head of Polish Defense Ministry also referred to the Narew
program – supplies of the short-range air defense system, up to 25 km.
Apart
from that, according to Macierewicz, the launch of the air defense system in
the frameworks of Narew may be possible in 2021 – 2022, i.e. earlier than it
was planned to. In its turn, the supply of the first Patriot complexes is the
result of the speed-up in negotiation with American Administration and support
of Donald Trump. According to the Memorandum signed in July, the missile
systems supplies shall be performed in two stages. Within the first phase,
Poland shall get four fire units – two batteries with 12 missiles in the latest
modification available on the market. On the second state, Poland will get
SkyCeptor missile systems.
