Kiev Independence Day Parade

August 24, 2018 (UNIAN) The Kiev Independence Day Parade is the main event of the Independence Day of Ukraine, which is celebrated annually in Kiev on August 24. The parade 2018 was the first to use "Glory to Ukraine" and "Glory to the Heroes" as the official greeting of the parade formations. Similar to the previous year's parade, the parade also included contingents from NATO armed services as a expression of gratitude for their assistance and support to all the men and women of the armed forces, active and reserve. Also, a number of Armed Forces units were granted unit honorifics honoring Ukrainian War of Independence figures and battles and important Ukrainian military heroes. 4,500 servicemen and 250 pieces of military equipment and dozens of military aircraft took part in the parade on the occasion of Ukraine’s Independence Day, including new weapon systems that have already been adopted and those that are being tested. Also, representatives of 18 foreign countries took part in the military parade on the occasion of the Independence Day celebration.
