New Ukrainian passenger aircraft Antonov - 158 to take off on Victory Day


Uktrainian aircraft joint stock company Motor Sich Chief Executive Officer Viacheslav Bohuslayev says the Antonov - 158 aircraft will take off on May 9, the Victory Day, he was speaking at a meeting with President Viktor Yanukovych on Monday, according to the presidential press-service.
President Yanukovych and Viacheslav Bohuslayev discussed issues related to development of aviation industry. The An-158 plane is a modernized model of the An-148 being extended by 1,700mm. It is capable of transporting 99 passengers at a distance of up to 2,500km.

Incorporating two fuselage plugs, the new variant will have a maximum take-off weight of 43,700kg (96,300lb) and a maximum payload of 9.8t. Its cruise speed will be 800-870km/h and it will be able to fly at 40,000ft (12,200m).
